one way ticket to midnight.. call it... HEAVY METAL!

(newest additions... Dayglo, King Diamond, Cannibal Corpse pics)

When man first plugged in the guitar, excessive noise was heard and neighbors were pissed. Heavy Metal began in all it's twisted roots with influences ranging from folk (Earth, later to be Black Sabbath), to traditional music (Led Zeppelin), to good old rock n' roll (MC5, Elvis, Cream, Rolling Stones). Originally the whole idea was just to play music loud, how stuff like chicks in leather and satan got into it, I've got no idea.

The height of Heavy Metal can generally be measured between 1982 and 1986 when bands such as Metallica, Venom, Motorhead, & Iron Maiden influenced many a youth to grow their hair out and drop out of mainstream society. Bands transformed greatly during this period, and several sub-cultures were defined, some of which still exist today (death metal) while others thankfully died out (glam metal).

At your left is just but a selection of some of the bands which, in my opinion, left their smudged mark on the timeline of metal. Comments, praises, & criticisms are more than welcome

Hesh Resources:

Slayer.com - Slayer is to Hesh as OJ is to Guilty.

Satanic Messages in Rock Songs - Well...... duh, you're fucking kidding me right?.

Black Metal Song Title Generator - Got a band? Need some names for your next album? Then look no further.

Metal For Jesus Page - What NOT to listen to. Too bad my aunt and uncle are still in Bloodgood. Kinda embarrassing. My cousin is in the God Squad too, what a horrific blow to my family name!
