25+ years. That's a long time for a band to remain. Black Sabbath has done as much to heavy metal as Mark Gonzales has done to street skating. Originally formed in 1968 under the moniker of "Earth", Black sabbath released their 1st album in 1970 which combined folk with dark themes. Ozzy left sabbath in the early 80's for a very successful solo career, while the empty singer position was quickly filled by Ronnie James Dio. After Dio left in 85, several other singers started rotating, and the band pretty much went to shit. Ozzy reunited with the original band (Geezer Butler, Tomi Inoni, & Bill Ward) in 97 including 2 new songs and a excellent tour which I was lucky enough to see.

Black Sabbath toured again with Ozzfest in summer 99 for the final time and no word on future plans for the band. In my opinion, i'm glad it's over cuz Ozzy almost died up on stage performing at ozzfest.
