Richmond
Just
a stones' throw from the Airport lies British Columbia's
one of the latest and greatest in their race to have the
most skateparks per capita in the world. At first glance,
this park looked almost like a cement version of 1998s)
Slam City Jam contest street course in the vein that it
had one whole side of the park packed with banks and quarterpipes.
There's alot of options there, with gaps and coping and
all that. In the middle of that wall, a halfpipe with a
spine juts out with nice coping set in. There's 2 small
1/2 bowls in the middle of the park with 2 small pyramids
on the opposite side of them, leaving some large transfer
options. Rounding out the park in one corner is a little
stair/bank/ handrail setup, and a bulkhead bank just like
Ladner's. The park's got a little of everything, it's just
a shame you have to push 10000x to get anywhere. Smokers
will be out of breath and lying in the car after 15 minutes
or so. There's also some perma-puddles so watch out. Overall,
this park is really great.
Directions:
Richmond is about
6 miles south of Vancouver. Take Oak st south which will
turn into hwy 99 south (the freeway back to the US), but
don't go on the freeway; take the airport road exit. The
park is located on about Airport road and No.2 road. Once
you go over a river, you have to take a U turn and take
the river-side road West. The park is on the south side
of the river about 1/4 mile west of No 2 road. Any problems
call the local skate shop, the Boarding House.. they are
very friendly.
