This
park boasts to outdo all the previous southern
Oregon parks. Two bowls, tall q/ps and banks,
corners, mounds and plenty more. This park will
offer some 'unusual' ramps like some irregular
ramps and a tall tower that will have to be seen
to be believed.
Directions:
Off
of Interstate 5 you take exit 27, if coming from
north you turn left at light, if coming from south
you turn right at light. Either way you are then
on Barnett Road (heading east). You then turn
left onto Highland Drive and then enter the first
paved parking lot to left (around curve in road).
Bear Creek Park has tennis courts, a covered pavilion,
an outdoor amphitheater, huge play (young kids)
area and a trail that goes from the park all the
way north through the city to Central Point. It
is a cool paved trail that winds along Bear Creek.
A fire station is at the next intersection (Highland
Drive and Siskiyou Blvd).
Also
we are building an inline hockey rink kind of
adjacent to the skatepark and there is a bmx track
just being compelted in the same general area.
Anyway.
Bunches of fast food (McD, Jack in the Box, Burger
King) and lots of gas stations/small stores if
you were to go the other way on Barnett (west)
. Oh, there is a Hometown Buffet close by as well
as Fred Meyer, Taco Bell, Starbucks, etc. You
can see these from the freeway exit.
Two restrooms are at the park in general areas,
no electricity, with drinking fountains scattered
around park. Helmets required, rollerblades or
skating only, a person is being hired to help
monitor the park (vandalism, graffiti, helmets)
and after May 26th the operating times will be:
Mon - Sat 9am - 9pm Sundays 9am - 6pm.
Big
thanks to Bev Power for all the info!
