Coquitlam
is a full go. Seriously the best skatepark in BC as of 2000,
hands down. If I designed a skatepark, it probably would
look something like this park. Nice community, lighted until
12:30 am daily (!), good coping, good tranny. Give the crew
who made this park permission to make every park in Canada!
There's 2 6' 3/4 bowls connected by a spine. Next to the
other side is a vert 8' q/p, complimented by a 8' bank to
wall on the direct opposite. There's some banks, some bank
to curbs, and plenty of banks. The best handrails (in a
BC park) can be found here along some nice bulkheads and
even a huge 3 step gap for the street stuntsters. Imagine
that, a street park with street obstacles. In another corner
of the park you'll find a 5' q/p escalting down to a 4'
q/p into a bowl then it turns into a nice hip, all with
metal coping set in right. Opposite that there's a nice
steep 8' hipped bank with a q/p in the middle, and finally
to sum up the park, there's small pyramid with rails in
the middle.
Directions:
2
ways:
Hwy 1: Take hwy 1 east or west
to New West area. Take the Hwy 7 exit north (it's at the
base of the New West bridge) and head north about 5 miles.
Hwy 7 turns into Pinetree st after the 1st major intersection.
Go about 2 more miles and look to the right for the skatepark
in a large park.
From
Downtown Vancouver:
Follow Hastings St all the way until it turns into Burnett
Highway. Follow signs about 10 miles to Pinetree st (you'll
see a huge mall on your left). Take a left and look for
park on right after about 2 miles.
Big ol' Bobcat. Down the
escalator, across the flat, 'round the corner. Hi speed
